Shoppers Go Mobile on Cyber Monday
“Mobile commerce as a whole has clearly gone beyond what it’s traditionally been, which is something primarily for the research phase,” Clark Fredricksen, vice president at researcher EMarketer Inc., said in an interview with Businessweek. “Tablets are the key driver in terms of the sales element. They’ve extended the length of the shopping day.”
Consumers spent about $1.46 billion the Monday after Thanksgiving, up from $1.25 billion last year, making it the heaviest online spending day in history, according to research firm ComScore Inc.
Walmart.com, the online division of Walmart U.S., had its best sales day in history.
Moms like the convenience of shopping on their mobile device whenever and wherever they want. In our recent holiday shopping survey, only 6.1% of respondents said they prefer to shop in store only.
